They delivered Valentines for Veterans at Madison's VA Hospital Sunday.

Special visitors spent time with patients at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital Sunday afternoon. The event represents a “National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans,” which takes place at VA hospitals around the country.

Alice in Dairyland and Bucky Badger, along UW athletes and cheerleaders gathered to say thanks.

“It's a real special day for the veterans. To have the opportunity of having people come in and wish them well, and know that people out there are aware of them, who are appreciative of their service to our country, and have people coming in to thank them for that… that's, that's crucial,” says Scott Krueger from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“It's a two–way street, though, I mean we both appreciate each other. It's nice getting out here and talking to them, and I think they like it too,” says UW football player Ben Strickland.
