The City of Madison says it has everything, but the pool.
Thursday, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz encouraged others to follow his lead, as he pledged to provide a $500 personal donation to the pool's construction.
The city also received a $50,000 gift from Madison–based Oscar Mayer.
That leaves the city roughly $250,000 short in its push for a 1,000 person capacity public pool.
The mayor says, "Once we build it, they will come, and they'll stay, and it'll be here every summer for as far as the eye can see and so it's really somethin'—an opportunity for people to have a lasting impact on their community."
Mayor Cieslewicz says donations are made to the Madison Parks Foundation, and are tax deductible.
The campaign to raise a total of $4.1 million wraps up at the end of February.
