The city of Madison continues to grow. In this case, that growth comes at the expense of Blooming Grove.
Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and the town Chair of Blooming Grove, Tom Anderson sign papers today to annex the town to Madison. Leaders of both Madison and Blooming Grove say the agreement will allow both communities to engage in cooperative problem–solving instead of bicker over boundaries.
“Today marks, to our knowledge, only the second time in history that a city and a town have signed an agreement that calls for the orderly transition from a town for assimilation by the city," says Blooming Grove Attorney Richard Norring.
"It represent a forward–thinking view on behalf of the town leadership to recognize what had become more or less inevitable and handle it in a responsible way," says Madison mayor Dave Cieslewicz. "Which is in the best interest of the town residents going forward."
