All across the country this week, Republicans and Democrats from Congress are holding town hall meetings to talk to their constituents about social security.

Here in Wisconsin, Tammy Baldwin is making her opinions known about President Bush's proposal to let workers invest part of their social security taxes.

Monday night residents were able to tell the Congresswoman what they thought about overhauling the program. And in turn, Baldwin told the crowd that there's no immediate crisis with Social Security, but instead a long term shortfall that she thinks could be addressed with modest reforms.

“Social security has kept millions of American seniors out of poverty, and it is one of our most successful programs since its inception, so I am very committed preserving the long term solvency of social security,” says Representative Baldwin.

So far President Bush has visited eight states, pitching his proposal to privatize, saying that social security will run dry in the next 40 years.
