Landlords and Madison police want to make sure college parties remain fun, but don't get out of hand.

Two years after a series of policies were created around house parties, UW's PACE Coalition held a forum Tuesday night to see how things are going.

Police say they have been communicating more with landlords, and they both want to hold tenants more accountable for out–of–control parties.

But officials say parties are only one part of the big picture. “House parties (are) only one factor in the drinking scene, so we really need to address it from all fronts. This is an important one. There's been some improvements, and I hope to see movement not only here, but all over the place,” says Aaron Brower from UW's PACE Coalition.

The forum comes in the wake of two recent incidents where party–goers were seriously injured after falling off of balconies, and after a party last month which resulted in more than $73,000 worth of fines for seven UW students.
