Pool Money Coming Up Short

Video will be available shortly.

Madison is still short of its public pool fundraising goal. But Madison's mayor is standing by with the city's money in case they don't reach it.

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz says he is ready to use more city money to help build a $4.1 million swimming pool. The city has five days left to raise $250,000.

The Mayor wants to be sure that the city makes the deadline. “We did introduce a resolution last night just to make sure we don't slip on the deadlines provided to us by the Goodman brothers."

But Alderman Zach Brandon says they should settle for what they have. “I think that we've raised a significant amount of money and I think that instead of putting more, or even the risk of putting more city money in, we should just take the money we have, build the smaller size."

The city currently has enough to build an 800 capacity pool. The Goodman brothers donated $2.5 million towards the pool. They stipulated that construction had to begin by July 1.
