A dog rescued from an icy patch of Lake Monona is on his way home.
A local veterinarian's office nicknamed the dog “Chilly,” but his real name is Murray. Neighbors and Madison police rescued the shephard mix from an ice shelf Sunday night after hearing him yelping.
The dog's doctor says Murray came in with a body temperature ten degrees below normal. "He had ice frozen in his fur, scrapes on his paw and face from trying to pull himself out of ice," says veterinarian Megan Tremelling.
The veterinarian's office says the dog's owners claimed him Monday afternoon. They told the vet that 9 year old murray recently learned how to scale their backyard fence.
