Deadly Deerfield Crash
Speed and alcohol are believed to be involved concerning a fatal accident in Deerfield.
Michael Portalatin, 40, died in a one-car accident early Saturday morning.
The Dane County Sheriff's Department responded to the crash scene on Highway 73 just after 2 a.m. Saturday.
The vehicle was traveling northbound when it reportedly hit a guardrail and veered across the center line. Then, the car struck an embankment, went airborne, and crashed into a tree.
Portalatin, the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
