"That's when the guy pulled out the machete and slammed it down on the counter and demanded money," says Paradise Liquors store clerk, Michael Miller.
It's the shocking video of a liquor store robbery. The store's surveillance cameras show two masked men walk in and demand money from the store clerk.
"My first reaction was like a silence."
Miller, was working just like any other day last Thursday when the two men walked in just before the store closed. Video shows the man in front walk to the back of the store while the other runs right up to the counter with the knife.
"It was a really big knife. It was the first thing that caught my attention. It was roughly about 2 and a half feet long."
Miller did as he was told, quickly removing several hundred dollars from the register. And just as quickly as the men came in, they left with the money in hand.
"It's never happened to me before so I guess I don't know how I would feel if it did happen," says another Paradise Liquors employee, Matt Prawat. "I'll definitely be more aware. But as a thing for safety, if somebody pulls out a 2 and half foot knife there's nothing you can do but listen to what they say."
"You can read about it in the paper all you want until it happens to you and then it's in a whole new perspective for you," says Miller.
Miller, the only person in the store at the time, was unharmed. And now every time he's at work, a knife sized hole carved into the counter top serves as a reminder to a day that could have cost him his life.
