Nearly two dozen inmates will be transferred to other jails, after an assault in the Rock County jail.
A correctional officer was assaulted last month by an inmate who was not secured in a locked cell.
The cell was left open so other inmates who sleep on the floor can use the bathroom.
Sheriff Eric Runaas says this incident proves overcrowding in the jail is not safe for officers.
So now, 23 inmates will be transferred to jails in Juneau and Sauk Counties.
