NBC 15 anchor/reporter Mike McKinney has been off the air for a few months battling Colon cancer. Tuesday night he went to New Glarus to share his personal story at an education seminar at the Monroe Clinic.
Colon Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the country, but it's a statistic that largely goes unnoticed. Early detention is key to survival.
Jill Bennett from the Monroe Clinic says, It is very abnormal to have symptoms and if you do have symptoms it is usually because the disease has progressed so it's a silent killer. You really do need to go and get screened.
Bennett also says all men and women over age 50 should get screened. Screening should be done early if you have a family history of Colon Cancer, or a history of Colon Polyps.
