Schools delayed, closed after 13-inch snowfall

(AP) -- About a foot of snow closed or delayed schools and made travel difficult Tuesday for parts of Wisconsin.

9 to 13 inches of snow fell overnight in Washington County, where Germantown School District shut down.

Slinger, Johnson Creek and Fond du Lac schools delayed the start of classes to allow buses and other vehicles make it through the snow.

The National Weather Service says 7 to 12 inches fell in Ozaukee County and 7 to 11 inches in Sheboygan County.

7 to 8 inches fell to the west in La Crosse, Rock, Dane, Green and Lafayette counties.

Part of Interstate-90 near the Wisconsin-Minnesota border was closed for about 2 hours Monday afternoon following a pileup on a snow-covered Mississippi River bridge.
