Coming to a Theater Near You: IMAX.
Thursday, the IMAX Corporation announced they signed a deal with Star Cinema in Fitchburg.
Under the terms, Star Cinema will open a IMAX theatre as part of a four-screen addition to the existing 14–screen multiplex. The theatre will be approximately 70-by-44 feet.
It will be the second IMAX theatre in the state. The other is in Milwaukee.
Bill Adamany, one of Star Cinema's owners says there is one major difference between the two. “The IMAX theatre in Milwaukee is at a museum and they play primarily the educational and cultural films. Where our primarily time will be spent playing the Hollywood blockbusters, but then we'll fill in through the day when we can with the cultural and educational films.”
Construction on the theatre will start in June and should be completed by the end of the year.
