How would you like to have the day off on major election days?
One state lawmaker says making the day a holiday for state employees would help solve the Election Day problems that happened in Milwaukee in November.
State representative Joe Parisi says declaring Election Day a state holiday would allow more people to work at polling places. That would help reduce administrative errors.
He says it would also help bring in voters on a steady pace throughout the day, rather than the morning and evening rush hours that can overwhelm a polling place.
Parisi says he does not support the Republican plan to require voters to bring photo identification with them.
He says this would more directly address the problems.
Making Election Day a holiday would be optional for schools and private employers.
