The PGA can eat its hearts out, these guys are good.
"People love our sandwiches, they come here with a smile and they leave with a smile, you know,we have a good time servin' 'em," says Sam Garre.
Garre's Jimmy John's Sandwich Making team of Justin Sprague, Mike Wilker, and Adonis Bryant puts its meat where its mouth is during a daily display on Madison's Mineral Point Road.
Westside residents aren't the only ones who've been impressed with these sandwich structuring skills. The trio recently earned a 3rd place finish in the 2005 Jimmy John's Sandwich Masters Championship, in Champaign, Illinois.
Sprague explains, "We had to make the sandwiches just perfectly. We had a judge go over every little detail, mayo placement, lettuce amount, you know everything just every possible thing that could go wrong, they picked out of our stuff."
The list of honors here at Sam's shop include the company's Chairman's Award, its President's Club Award, and its Customer Service Award. And, in just his third year of operation Sam, himself, this year was named one of six General Managers of the Year.
"(I) try to motivate them so they love their job as much as I love workin' here, and I think we've achieved that," says Garre.
The general manager says his prior work in outside sales exposed him to the hard-work opportunities available at Jimmy John's.
