A court order is bringing big changes at an embattled Fitchburg apartment complex. The Dane County Circuit Court ruled Tuesday to move the management team out of Ridgewood.
The court appointed a Milwaukee company to take over immediately. The reason stems from overdue bills and a rash of problems at the complex.
In the past year, Ridgewood has had four fires, more than a thousand police calls, and is Fitchburg's biggest source of building code violations.
That's why the city's mayor says he's optimistic about the court's decision.
"I am hoping that it can free up my building inspector. I hope that we don't have to write anymore citations, we can get out of there, we can get on with business as a city, and we don't have to be down there watching over it like we have been the past year and a half," says Fitchburg Mayor Tom Clauder.
The new management says they plan to improve operations at Ridgewood while the foreclosure lawsuit is pending.
The court appointed change will not affect tenants' rental agreements.
