National Feline Frenzy Over Wisconsin's Feral Cat Debate

Video will be available shortly.

Wisconsin's cat hunting debate is getting national attention, but Governor Doyle doesn't want Wisconsin to become known as the state that shoots cats.

"On this one, I think everyone recognizes that it's not going anywhere. And what it does is just sort of hold us up as a state that everyone is kinda laughing at right now," says the Governor.

The Governor says his office has received calls from around the country complaining about the idea.

NBC 15 has also been fielding passionate emails and calls from as far away as Washington, D.C. and New Mexico.

On eBay, a seller in California has even put a poster for the "Cat Retaliation Army" up for bid.

Monday night, Wisconsin's Conservation Congress voted in favor of a plan that would allow wild, free–roaming cats to be killed.

In order to become law, the state legislature would have to pass a bill, and get the Governor to sign it.

Both South Dakota and Minnesota currently allow wild cats to be shot.
