Town of Monticello Fails to Hold Spring Elections for Local Offices

Lots of people forget about their local elections. Rarer are the town officials who do.

The state Elections Board is looking into the Town of Monticello's failure to print up ballots for its five local offices on the spring ballot earlier this month.

All five were unopposed in their bids for re-election, and Town Clerk Walter Weber says officials just forgot to print up ballots.

Town voters in the April fifth spring election still had the opportunity to cast ballots for statewide offices.

Elections Board executive director Kevin Kennedy says the governor agreed to order a special election May 24th to let them vote for the five local offices.
