Outdoor Farmers' Market Ready for Business

The Dane County Farmers' Market says it will offer its products rain or shine but this Saturday morning vendors and shoppers battled a chilly wind.

Customers turned out in heavy jackets, hats and mittens to purchase their favorite items on the market's opening day outdoors.

This time of year asparagus is ready to go, along with flowers, greens, and other year-round products, like bread and cheese.

But Larry Johnson, the market's manager, says many just enjoy the experience of this decades old tradition. "Everybody likes to be outside- we have lots of room- enjoy the wonderful weather and park like setting around the Capitol."

The year–round market heads outdoors from late April through early November.

The market at Capitol Square is open Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
It's also open Wednesdays on Martin Luther King Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
