"This is such a wonderful idea that you gather every year and raise this scholarship money to help women," Senator Hillary Clinton told the crowd.

With every seat full, all eyes were on the former first lady and current New York Senator. At the Wisconsin Women In Government event they were excited to hear her speak, and anxious to see if she would run in 2008.

"Hillary Clinton is a role model because she has achieved so much not only from local women in government, but women in government nationally to internationally, and I have a feeling that we are going to be listening to our first female President," says Kristin Erickson, publisher of Anew, a women's' magazine.

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk echoes those sentiments saying, "I'm for her. If women don't run we can't win. She cares about the values I know we care about here."

There are several websites, some in support Sen. Clinton in '08, and others against. There is even a Hillary Meter. Paying close attention to all of it is Political Science Professor Charles Franklin. He thinks she has the most intense following, and has a set of issues that appeal to the Democratic party, but he notes a downside.

"What she's got going against her is she has a lot of people that hate her, and so when it comes to the general election she is going to have a real problem facing the hate Clinton people," says Franklin.

That was not the case in the Banquet Hall at the Monona Terrace on Friday night.

"She is like a role model for me. This is a great experience to be here," says Heidi Bremer, a scholarship recipient.

People paid $50 to attend the banquet. The money raised is going to go towards scholarships for women with aspirations in government.
