The Ethics Board fined the Tavern League of Wisconsin $2,500 Monday for violating the state's lobbying laws.

The Tavern League held a reception for lawmakers that charged them just five dollars for food and as much beer as they wanted.

About 100 state officials attended, nearly half were lawmakers.

The Ethics Board found the league should have charged at least $27.50 per person.

The March 29th reception came to light after Senator Russ Decker was pulled over for drunken driving in Middleton.

The Ethics Board ruled the league had failed to charge legislators and their staffs the full value of the food and drink they had at the reception, violating ethics laws.
