A purchase by the county will allow residents and their families to enjoy the beauty of one lake for generations to come.
Mud Lake, in the town of Roxbury, will be a part of Dane County. And that means, more residents can go out and experience one of the largest lakes still undeveloped in the county.
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk says, "Well, you can't improve on perfection, and if there is a prettier view in our county it would be hard to find, and that is why we are purchasing here for the public to use forever, 72 acres around this wonderful lake called Mud Lake."
Mud Lake spans 216 acres and is a popular fishing spot. The county's $561,000 purchase will increase the public's access, as well as protect the surrounding 72 acres of shore land from development.
A resolution approving the purchase will be introduced to the county board later this week.
