Red Cross Providing Help for Fire Victims

Video will be available shortly.

As families began to travel back into the burned out area of Adams County, Red Cross workers in Madison are moving out to lend a hand.

Jack Koeppl is a Red Cross Volunteer. Friday afternoon he sat down with logistics planners as he got ready to leave for Adams County.

The Red Cross has already set up a shelter at an area school. Cots, blankets and supplies are already in the area. Along with basic supplies, Jack will be taking along something special to help comfort some of the youngest victims.

"We're gonna take along teddy bears actually they're Mickey Mouse's, and these are generally given to children who are dealing with some anxiety as a result of the disaster," Koeppl says.

Koeppl says the Red Cross will also have crisis intervention people and mental health workers who will meet and chat with the children and try to keep them from having too traumatic an experience.
