Some local business owners are hoping to be exempt from Madison's smoking ban.
Owners of local cigar bars and retail stores are saying they should not be put into the same category as those who cater to cigarette smokers.
The proposed exemption includes a definition for a tobacco ban as an establishment that has at least 10 percent of its revenue come from tobacco sales.
Advocates for this exemption say there is a difference between a cigarette and a cigar smoker.
