Hot Rods Liquor License in Question

A club for adult entertainment could run dry if the town revokes its liquor license.

Special counsel for the town of Cross Plains, Mark Hazelbaker says the owners of Hot Rods never asked for a transfer of the liquor license when it took over the establishment.

Hazelbaker says the club opened in February with new people running it but under a liquor license belonging to a previous owner. Hazelbaker says that owner was supposedly in charge, but an investigator from the Department of Revenue went to check.

"That person has to have the real power and have to be there... pretty clear that wasn't the case," says Hazelbaker.

The town clerk filed a complaint against the owners of Hot Rods, saying the license transfer is invalid. Hazelbaker says, under Wisconsin Law, the town board must revoke the liquor license if that is true.

The town board is expected to act on the complaint at its meeting on Monday. Calls to the owners of Hot Rods were not returned.
