One person died and more than 30 others were injured when a tour bus collided with a car, triggering a three-vehicle wreck late Tuesday afternoon just outside Waupaca.

Waupaca County Sheriff Steve Liebe says a Waupaca woman driving the car was killed when she pulled out onto state Highway 54 west of Waupaca into the path of the bus. The car was struck on the driver's side and then hit by a third vehicle, while the bus went into the ditch and rolled on its side.

Officials say 34 people injured in the accident were taken to area hospitals, some by helicopter, and many of them were treated and released, but two were then flown by helicopters to other hospitals for more extensive treatment.

Paul Jenson is community relations manager for the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. He says people on the bus were returning from a two-day trip, and they were within a couple miles of the parking lot when the crash happened.
