BRAC… it stands for Base Realignment and Closure. And for Wisconsin, it means just that. Some bases will close, some will realign.

Here's what's closing.

The biggest hit comes in Milwaukee, where one of the five major bases in the state may be closed. That base is the Air Reserve Station at Mitchell Airport, and is home to the 440th Airlift Wing. 20 military positions and 246 civilian jobs will be lost there.

Also closing, the Navy Reserve Center in La Crosse.

In Madison The Navy Marine Corps Reserve Center is closing, costing three civilians their jobs.

And the Olson Army Reserve Center and the O'Connell Army Reserve Center will be closing in Madison. They'll be combined into a new Armed Forces Reserve Center.

And Wisconsin's biggest base, Fort McCoy, will see a realignment that means the loss of more than 280 military positions, but an increase of 51 civilian jobs.
