A routine skydiving trip ended in a crash Thursday when a wing of the airplane used to carry the parachutists hit one who had just jumped out the plane's door.

After the 31-year-old skydiver was hit, the pilot lost control and the plane crashed in trees across the street from the Sylvania Airport. The pilot and skydiver were not believed to be seriously injured.

Lieutenant Connie Mallwitz of the Racine County Sheriff's Department says they're lucky to be alive.

They were taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment.

Both men are from Illinois, but further information on them was not immediately available.
