It was a mad dash Sunday at the 31st annual Mad City Marathon.
More than 4,000 runners pounded the pavement in a slew of races ranging from a marathon to a family–friendly kiddie race.
Runners kick–started the race at the Capitol Square and crossed the finish line at the Alliant Energy Center. And for the very first time, runners were greeted with the sweet smells of the world's largest bratfest.
Keith Peterson is the event manager for the marathon. "People that were here are going over to Brat Fest and people from Brat Fest are here cheering on our runners and we have a great day. The weather's holding, so I'm really happy."
One runner says, "What an improvement from last year, what a great finish there. They really did a great job out there today, I'm coming back. This is good."
