A smoking ban is causing some groups to change their minds about holding conventions in Appleton.
Appleton's ban includes all restaurants, bars and meeting rooms, and is set to begin on July 1.
Despite the fact that this ban has those in the Appleton tourism industry worried about business, the Madison area has not faced any similar problems.
Kim Straka of the Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau says, "We represent all of Dane County, so we have other communities that we can look to for options for a group that has specific needs, such as smoking."
The Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau says they realize groups have all sorts of needs, and they are willing to work with them.
