16-Year-Old Driver Flees From Green County Deputies, Crashes Stolen Vehicle

From the Green County Sheriff's Office:

At 4:57 a.m. (July 10, 2012) Deputies attempted to stop a motor vehicle for speeding on STH 11 at Mt Hope Rd., in the Town of Spring Grove.

The vehicle fled from law enforcement into the City of Brodhead and crashed into a dumpster in a parking lot near the intersection of 14th St. and W. 8th Ave.

It was determined the motor vehicle was stolen from Freeport, IL.

The driver, a 16 year old Freeport male, was wearing his seat belt, and reported no injuries. There was no airbag deployment.

The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

He was cited for speeding, violation of driver's license restrictions and reckless driving. Additional charges of knowingly fleeing an officer are pending.
