Wisconsin National Guard battalions based in Madison and Wisconsin Rapids have received orders for active duty.
The 2nd Battalion, 128th Infantry is headquartered in Madison. The Battalion is made up of company's and detachments from Fort Atkinson, Elkhorn, Oconomowoc, Hartford, Baraboo, Reedsburg and Watertown.
The 1st Battalion, 120th Field Artillery is also being ordered to active duty. It's based in Wisconsin Rapids, and has a detachment in Mosinee and Battery's in Marshfield, Clintonville and Stevens Point.
Lt. Col. Tim Donovan of the Wisconsin National Guard says about 1,020 solders are affected by this most recent mobilization. Soldiers are expected to report to active duty in August. Donovan expects the units will deploy overseas. Both mobilization orders are for 18 month periods.
Word of the mobilization comes as both units are taking part in two weeks of annual training at Fort McCoy. That training lasts through the end of next week.
