Body of Missing Hartland Man Found on Mountain

The body of a Hartland, Wisconsin man missing for nearly two weeks was found today on a mountain north of Vancouver, British Columbia.

Constable John MacAdam of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police says a hiker found David Koch's body this afternoon in a gully on Grouse Mountain.

MacAdam says the death appears to be an accident. He says the body apparently washed down the gully to where it was found about 650 meters from a hiking trail. The area had been searched earlier.

The 36-year-old man went missing on the mountain May 25th, while on a business trip to Vancouver. He never made it to his scheduled meetings the next day.

Rescue crews and members of Koch's family have been at the site about 15 minutes north of downtown Vancouver, searching the mountain for any trace of him.

Police called off the official search Sunday.

Video surveillance showed Koch getting off a cable car at the top of the mountain. He was wearing sandals, which led investigators to think he intended to go for a light walk, not a strenuous hike.
