Severe storms triggered tornado warnings as they blasted their way across central and northern parts of Wisconsin Tuesday night. The National Weather Service says one tornado touched down near Colby in western Marathon County, but the damage appears to be limited to downed trees and power lines.

A couple thousand utility customers were reported to be temporarily without electricity in Portage and Marathon counties after the storms went through.

Storms also broke out to the south but brought mostly rain and hail, some of it an inch or more in diameter.

We Energies of Milwaukee says about 4500 customers in the metropolitan area had electric service temporarily knocked out.
