A high speed chase on the beltline proves to be a one way ticket to jail for a man wanted on several felony warrants.
The chase began about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Cornell Clark, 34, was spotted by a Madison police officer, who tried to pull him over. Clark then led police on a beltline chase reaching speeds of more than 90 miles an hour.
Because of the suspect's extensive criminal history of violence, Madison called in for backup.
"A lot of officers joined in this pursuit because of the fact that it was going on so long and also the potential for violence once the pursuit ended," says Public Information Officer Mike Hanson of the Madison Police Department. "So when it's of that magnitude we want a lot of resources."
Clark was arrested on charges of attempting to elude police, and other traffic charges.
No injuries or accidents resulted from the chase.
