A little girl is dead after a day care worker forgets her in a hot, steamy van for nearly eight hours.
The victim was about two years old.
It happened at the "Come and Grow with Me Learning and Arts Center" in West Allis. Authorities say the girl was picked up by the daycare van around 7:30 Thursday morning. The girl's mother came to pick her up just before three.
"The mother came to pick up the baby and they said they didn't have the baby, and then she ran out and she was screaming, and the baby was dead," says Sue Sthokal, a witness.
The girl was found dead in the van.
Parents of the other children at the daycare say they are upset and shaken. Some are calling for the driver to be fired. Others say this is a criminal act.
Temperatures in Milwaukee reached 85 degrees Thursday.
