Sendoff for 630 WI National Guard Soldiers
It will likely be more than a year before family and friends see hundreds of Wisconsin National Guard troops again.
A send–off ceremony was held for the Second Battalion, 127th Infantry at Volk Field Thursday.
The 630 member Battalion will head to Camp Shelby, Mississippi for training before deployment to Iraq for about a year.
The unit was activated earlier this week.
With this call–up, Wisconsin has about 1,700 Army and Air National Guard members on active duty.
