Street fights and gunfire – police have seen that violent behavior too often outside of Madison's Club Majestic. That's why the Alcohol License Review Board spent Wednesday night trying to determine if any changes need to be made.
Club Majestic's owners went before board members Wednesday night, to renew their liquor license, and the topic of increasing safety came up.
This year there have been three incidents of shots fired, but owners are working with police to prevent anymore violence.
Neighboring bars and restaurants hope their efforts are successful.
"There's definitely fights going on, a lot of people hanging around. If you get out at 2:30 in the morning when most of us get done and try to cross the street or anything like that there's people all over the place and it's kinda hard to deal with," says Chad Vogel, manager of Flat Iron Tavern.
"In terms of responsibly serving our guests and making sure they are not placed at risk, in terms of responsibly managing a business where our staff is also not at risk, that's a problem," says Matthew Ormond, manager of Opus Lounge.
After discussion, board members unanimously decided to renew Club Majestic's liquor license.
