U.W. Aid Bill
A bill is being pushed at the Capitol that would revoke financial aid from any U.W. student who sells drugs.
It was introduced yesterday to the Higher Education Committee.
The same measure won overwhelming approval in the Assembly last session, but then stalled.
Financial aid administrators say they don't have the resources necessary to check which students have been convicted of drug crimes.
A similar federal law passed in 1998, in which students report their own convictions.
Critics say that means only the honest students are being denied aid.
