A federal wildlife specialist will try to help Sheboygan with its pesky gull population.
A local business owner says the messy gull problem has escalated
from an annoyance to a health concern.
Hundreds of gulls are nesting in a vacant lot where children
play. The gulls regularly bombard those nearby with their
U-S-D-A wildlife specialist Ben Nelson says the federal
Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 protects all birds, including
gulls, with few exceptions.
Nelson says any attempt to move bird nests and eggs or relocate
the birds would require a federal permit. He says the city may have
some removal options, but he'll have to explore them.
