The flames have burned out in Madison's bars and restaurants.
The city's new smoking ban is now in effect, preventing anyone from lighting up cigarettes and cigars inside restaurants and bars, including those traditionally referred to as ‘cigar bars’.
On State Street today, those who frequent such establishments had mixed opinions on the new ban.
Some say they support the measure as a way to clear the air, while others expressed their frustration.
"I think it's unfortunate, I do because to regulate somebody's choice is just foolish to me just doesn't make sense," says one restaurant patron.
"I'm not one for legislating people's behavior, but I do believe that there are a lotta bars in this town that'll be a lot nicer without just this endless, thick cloud of smoke that covers over everything," says another.
