Former Rock County coroner Karen Gilbertson started serving her jail sentence Wednesday, sort of.
Gilbertson opted to serve her sentence on an electronic monitoring bracelet. She must wear the thick rubber strap with a pager size box on it around her ankle. Her whereabouts are monitored by a satellite tracking system. She must stay within one hundred feet of her home.
The Rock County Sheriff says Gilbertson meets the criteria to wear the monitoring system, she is not being afforded any more privileges than any other inmate can ask for.
Gilbertson is serving a sentence for misconduct in public office.
