One state lawmaker wants tougher laws against child sexual assault.
Representative Marlin Schneider of Wisconsin Rapids introduced a bill which would create a mandatory minimum 20 year prison sentence for people convicted of sexually assaulting a child under age 13. The bill would also order convicted offenders to spend the rest of their lives on extended supervision, including global positioning system tracking.
Schneider's bill needs approval from the state Legislature and the governor to become a law.
