Baraboo's Circus World Museum needs to raise another $350,000 this year to balance its budget. But officials aren't worried.
Despite making a slight profit at last month's Great Circus Parade, fundraising fell about $110,000 short of what officials had hoped for. That's increasing the need for the museum to raise additional funds from other sources.
But museum officials say they're not worried, since they are half–way towards meeting this year's goal, and there are still six months left to fund raise.
"Our donors seem pleased with what we're doing and with our new directions, and as a result of that, I think we should be feeling very positive about reaching our goals," says museum president and CEO Larry Fisher.
In the past, museum officials say they have made adjustments to their operating hours and to some of their programs, particularly in the wintertime. But right now, they say there are no plans to do that.
