It's all fun and games at the Dane County Fair. While it's been going on for more than a hundred years, people may wonder why Dane County doesn't have its own fairgrounds.
The fair actually started on its own grounds near the Alliant Energy Center, but many years ago the property was given to the county. Since then, it's been held at the Alliant Energy Center.
Organizers say one of the reasons they haven't changed locations is because the Alliant Energy Center has so much to offer. Lisa Behnke, Marketing Manager for the fair says, "The thing is we've got this beautiful facility with many many buildings on this campus that can be utilized for the fair and we do use them with all the animals we've got here and the exhibits we've got on display."
Behnke adds having the fair on the pavement helps keep everything clean and dry.
