The plan to merge some Rock County's health departments is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The Rock County Health Department Merger Committee voted six to one Tuesday night to approve the grouping of the county health department and the city of Beloit's health department.
Merging the departments would mean a higher tax levy for the county; however, it also means increased health services for the people.
The city will hold a public hearing on the merger in late August and the county is likely to discuss the merger at its August meeting.
