The search is on for a Sauk County kidnapping suspect. Police believe the man kidnapped a 12-year-old girl at knifepoint Wednesday afternoon.

That girl is in the hospital. The chief says this kind of crime puts people on edge, including the woman who was surprised to find the little girl at her front porch Thursday morning.

"I seen someone out my window ... They were at the mailbox," the woman says.

Sharon Saladis thought a car accident brought the little girl to her front door just before eight a.m. Thursday.

"She was very scared, crying ... looked like she had a rough night," Saladis says.

What the injured little girl told Saladis caused the mother of four to lock her doors while calling 911.

"She said she was in a car all night ... tried to escape but just couldn't," Saladis says.

"This is an incredibly serious crime," Reedsburg police chief Wilbur Abel says.

Chief Abel is searching for Sean Youngs.

"We're gonna do everything we can to find this man," Abel says.

Police believe Youngs, who lives near Rock Springs, abducted the 12-year-old Reedsburg girl Wednesday afternoon at knifepoint.

Police say the suspect knows the girl's father.

"Her last contact with her dad was at 2:45 p.m., via text message on her cell phone, telling her dad she was going to the library," Abel says.

By nine o'clock in the evening, she was reported missing.

"There were no signs of foul play in the residence," Abel says.

Bloodhounds searched overnight turning up nothing but a track outside of the city.

Then a break came from the lone house on a rustic road. Saladis says the girl told her the suspect dropped her off.

"I was crying along with her. It was pretty gut wrenching ... you know it happens ... don't think it's happening in your area ... appear at your doorstep," Saladis says.

Youngs was last seen driving a Lincoln MK-8, two-door, dark purple in color with dual exhausts. His license plate number is unknown.

Police say the girl is at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Youngs has warrants out for him for assault and armed abduction.

Police consider him dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
