An 18-year-old woman says she was raped in a suburban Milwaukee park by someone posing as a police officer.
Police in Hales Corners say the woman got into her car Tuesday night when the man stopped her. He was reportedly driving a car that had a red bubble light on the dashboard similar to those used by police.
Police say the man wore a gold-colored badge on his belt and told the woman he needed to search the car. He then allegedly dragged her into some bushes and raped her.
Authorities say police cars will always have red and blue lights, and officers will always have both a badge and a station I.D.
Hales Corner police say this type of crime is very frustrating. Chief Kent Bieganski from the Hales Corner Police Department says, "Its very insulting to the profession to have someone that's out there doing that under the guise of law enforcement."
Hales Corner police continue to follow up on every lead in search of a suspect.
