Press Release from the MHM Scholarship Committee:

Monday, April 28, will celebrate Mike McKinney’s 43rd birthday. Mike died July 9, 2006 following a courageous battle with colon cancer.

To honor his final request, last year we established the Michael Harrington McKinney (MHM) Student of Promise Award at the Madison Community Foundation, to be given annually to recognize an outstanding high school senior pursuing a career in broadcast journalism.

Mike would have been 43 years old on Monday. A benefit to support the Student of Promise Scholarship Fund will be held at Bunky’s Café, 2827 Atwood Avenue Tuesday, April 29. Those whose lives Mike touch are asked to stop by Bunky’s Café Tuesday between 5-8 p.m. to join in the celebration.

We are asking a donation of $43 representing $1 for each year of Mike’s life.

Checks should be payable to the MHM Student of Promise Scholarship Fund, Madison Community Foundation, mailed to 2 Science Court, P.O. Box 5010, Madison, WI 53705 or dropped off at Bunky’s Café.
