Wisconsin National Guard officials presented the Governor with the 2005 report on Homeland Security in the Badger State on Friday.
September has been declared as "Preparedness Month" by Governor Doyle.
Here are just some of the steps Wisconsin has taken to prepare the state. The National Guard's 54th Civil Support team now has a mobile analytical lab and tactical operation center. The State Emergency Operations center has been renovated.
The question still remains. Is Wisconsin really ready to respond to and recover from a major emergency?
Governor Doyle says, "I think all of us, what we've seen in the last few days have to now question and I think the federal government is going to have to do some real soul searching as to whether they're ready to respond to disasters that might occur in other states in the United States."
Since 9-11, Wisconsin has received more than $100 million in Federal Homeland Security grants.
